Palm Desert Lifestyle Photographer~ And Then We Snapped- 365 Blog Circle- 2015 Week 3

Already three weeks into this new year.
Tuesday has snuck up on me yet again!
In the midst of all my other responsibilities which are many,
I admittedly did not shoot every single day,
but I did shoot way more than enough to cull out seven decent images
and these are the ones I present to you today!
When you are finished here, be sure to head on over to the ever fabulous work of

It really is an awesome way to spend a Tuesday!

 Week 3
January 11th through January 17th

"Siblings"

"If parents are the fixed stars in the child's universe, the vaguely understood, distant but constant celestial spheres, siblings are the dazzling, sometimes scorching comets whizzing nearby."

Alison Gopnik

I know it's hard to believe I have more than one child. I do though, and on occasion, they even make it into my images for the week.

----------------

"Capes"

I would wear a full-length cape if I could get away with it - I do love a good swirl in a fog.
Martin Freeman

A girl, a cape, a street, 'nuff said.

-------------

"Rainbow"
"It's a good thing that when God created the rainbow he didn't consult a decorator or he would still be picking colors."
Sam Levenson

Took a trip to the local farmers marker this week. I have no shame in admitting that I was wholly unaware of the existence of orange, purple, and green
cauliflower. Consider me schooled.

--------------

"Compartmentalize"

“All definitions are a part of the intellectual dissection and compartmentalization of control.”
― Bryant McGillSimple Reminders: Inspiration for Living Your Best Life

Any small space, nook, or cranny must be explored.
Such are the spaces in which small but valuable treasures may be lurking,
be they philosophical,
or rodent in nature.

--------------

"Write"
"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing."

Benjamin Franklin

Writing is drawing and drawing is writing and thus she is both artist and writer
at the same time for hours each day.

Free lensed.
I think the combination of free lensing and black and white
makes it extremely difficult to capture an uninteresting image.
I am not claiming either are easy to do, but once you have gotten the hang of it,
the images just kind of make themselves.

-----------

"The Audience"
"Personality is the glitter that sends your little gleam across the footlights and the orchestra pit into that big black space where the audience is."

Mae West

They may run from her when they see her coming, but it does not dispel their fascination with her.

---------------

"Escape"
“For a second I was almost jealous of the clouds.
Why was he looking to them for an escape when I was right here beside him?”
― Kamila Shamsie, Kartography

They are not really outdoor cats. But on occasion we either let them out for a bit, or they escape through our legs at the front door. I feel a little bad for them, but at the same time they don't realize that the freedom they covet would actually be the exact prison we rescued them from.

--------------

 "Engagement"
"I think happiness is a combination of pleasure, engagement and meaningfulness.

Ian K. Smith

I didn't clean up the mess here. I don't believe it makes it less of a portrait and more of a snapshot though. This mess helps create a biographical and environmental portrait. Some might say it is distracting, I say it tells two stories about two different kinds of people. The first is of a little girl who is a whirlwind of energy and chaos, leaving evidence of the chaos wherever she may go, and the other story is of a man that loves that little girl so much that he doesn't even notice the chaos
 but instead only notices her.

So another week comes to a close. Please join me again next time,
but since that's a whole week away,
please consider following the blog circle over to the amazing

Palm Desert Lifestyle Photographer~ And Then We Snapped- 365 Blog Circle- 2015 Week 2

Already time for another episode of And Then We Snapped 2015 Edition!
Both my favorite day of the week and the one I hate
as it seems to always sneak up on me at the last minute!

I've been keeping track of the days on my Facebook page, but with extra shares and side b's,
I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself.
So suffice it to say that these were all shot sometime during the week of
January 5th, 2015 to January 11th 2015.
Enjoy!
Oh and when you are done here, make sure you head on over to see the sure to please work of

I know I am going to!

"Triumph"
This little girl of mine is all about unicorns. This is her new Christmas unicorn, apparently having some sort of battle with the old counting bears. You'd have to ask her...

"Sniff"
"I judge people on how they smell, not how they look."

Jennifer Lopez

Free lensed before he tried to sniff my camera.

"Birthday Sandwich"
Who wants to wait all day for birthday cake to blow out candles?
A little side b from Monday.

"Upside Down"

"It's about a girl who is on the cusp of becoming someone.. A girl who may not know what she wants right now, and she may not know who she is right now, but who deserves the chance to find out.”
― Jodi Picoult, My Sister's Keeper

A long time ago, my mom told me that my childhood just seemed to speed up after I turned five and started school. This was the day my last child turned five and I am keenly aware that time has no special considerations to give me and slow down for a bit. So I felt just a little dizzy and upside down.

"Reflective Curiosity"

We went to one of her favorite places for her birthday.
The Children's Discovery Museum.
This is also where I teach art classes for kids.
She loves it because it's fun, I love it because it's an awesome place to shoot.
Light, lines, and color, oh my!

7/365 " Five"

"You don't have to have anything in common with people you've known since you were five. With old friends, you've got your whole life in common."

Lyle Lovett

For now I am her memory, and someday she will be mine.

...............

"Seek"

It's been pretty overcast here for a few days. Not much in the way of rain unfortunately. Just enough gray to make you want to stay inside though. Even though we might be inside, we all still look for the light.

.................

9/365 "Giggle"
"It's just certain people that I get the giggles with."

Jeremy Sumpter

These kittens are worse than naughty toddlers. They can jump!
God help us if they had opposable thumbs.

.............

"Her Prerogative"

"Free imagination is the inestimable prerogative of youth and it must be cherished and guarded as a treasure."

Felix Bloch
When the photo shoots are her idea, amazing things happen.

.......

" Mask"

“A charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld,—
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.

But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,—
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.”
― Emily Dickinson, The Complete Poems

...........

"Waiting"
You usually have to wait for that which is worth waiting for.

Craig Bruce

If you were to ask her, she might not think that lunch was really worth waiting for, BUT the "Frozen" sticker and the little puzzle that came in the bag just might have been.

............

That's it for me this week! But let me just advise you to stay tuned. There are some very curious and naughty kittens living in my house now. Combine that with a five year little girl with a personality as big as her imagination and you just know we're in for some brilliant photo opps!

In the meantime, head on over to see the gorgeous week of

Palm Desert Lifestyle Photographer~ And Then We Snapped- 365 Blog Circle- Week 23

And here I go again...

Last week I missed posting week 52 of my first 365 project. Today I will rectify that by including it with the first week of my second 365 project for 2015.
Crazy right?
Well, it's a habit now and not one I really want to break.
Especially when I get to spend Tuesdays with such lovely ladies
such as these
that are part of our fabulous blog circle.

So when you finish up here, be sure to move along to see the
most fabulous work of

***WARNING***

There is an incredible amount of oversharing about to happen.
Because of that, I am choosing to leave out quotes.
Most of these have had quotes if they were posted on Facebook.
The quotes will be making a comeback next week though!
